CHON BURI: A European man was found hanged from a tree in a deserted alley in tambon Nong Prue, in Pattaya's Bang Lamung district, about 8pm on Monday.

The man was 180-185 centimetres tall and 35-40 years of age. He wore a white T-shirt with black stripes and white shorts. Police said it appeared he had been dead for at least two days.

A nylon rope was tied around his neck and the other end was fastened to a branch about three metres above the ground. Police said there were no signs of physical assault on the body, that rested with its knees on the ground.

A man found the body when he stopped his vehicle in Soi Phra Tamnak 6 and walked to the roadside to urinate.

Police had yet to identify the dead man or determine the cause of death. The body was sent to the Police General Hospital for an autopsy.
