Future Forward Party deputy leader Phongsakon Rotchomphu reported to police on Monday over his role in sharing false information about Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon on Facebook.

Lt Gen Phongsakon met the Technology Crime Suppression Division to hear the charge of putting false information into a computer system.

His post indicated that Gen Prawit had spent 12,000 baht of the Defence Ministry's budget on a cup of coffee.

The party deputy leader repeated his position that the case was politically motivated and he had already apologised and removed the content from his social media.

Immigration Bureau chief Pol Lt Gen Surachate Hakparn, as deputy director of Thailand’s Action Task Force for Information Technology Crime Suppression, has denied the action against Lt Gen Phongsakon is related to politics.
